Looking through the list, the competencies I think I have are learning through experience, valuing ideas, planning and management, and self-awareness.

Learning through experience feels like the core of how I actually learn as a tech student. Honestly, I barely retain anything from just reading through documentation because I learn better by building things, breaking them, and figuring out why. That trial-and-error loop is something I've leaned into a lot, and I think it's genuinely more useful than trying to plan everything perfectly up front.

Valuing ideas is something that I connect to as well, both on a personal level and in group settings as well. I find myself curious about ideas that sit outside my comfort zone, even if I can't immediately see how they're useful. That openness is something I want to keep developing. In this course, valuing ideas has been a useful skill to have when brainstorming with my group mates.

Planning and management is probably my most practiced competency just from years of juggling coursework, projects, and deadlines. Breaking big problems into smaller steps is something I do almost automatically now.

Self-awareness is the one I'm honestly still working on. I know I tend to jump into execution before fully thinking something through, and I think that recognising that pattern is at least the first step.

In terms of sustainability, I think these competencies matter because the SDG challenges aren't just technical problems. They need people who can reflect, adapt, and collaborate across disciplines.
